János STRAUSZ

Dr. Strausz was a Judge to the Constitutional Court from December 1998 to December 2004.

After obtaining his law degree at the Faculty of Law of Eötvös Loránd University of Budapest (ELTE) in November 1963, he worked as a court clerk until 1967. In February 1967 he was appointed presiding judge of a chamber, and as a criminal judge he heard mainly cases involving acts of violence. From November 1977 he was a member of one of the chambers of appeal at the Municipal Court of Budapest, and he presided over one of the chambers from August 1980. Before his election to the Constitutional Court, he mainly dealt with grievous criminal acts directed against life. His main interests are Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure Law, Legal History and Hungarian Public Law.
