István BAGI

Dr. Bagi was a Judge to the Constitutional Court from June 1997 to June 2006.

He received his law degree at the Faculty of Law of the University of Pécs in 1965. After studying for the bar and becoming an advocate in Pécs, he worked as Head of the Disciplinary Committee of the Chamber of Advocates of Pécs between 1978 and 1983, and afterwards as Secretary of the Chamber of Advocates of Pécs. He has been a member of the Presidential Board of the National Council of Advocates (later National Chamber of Advocates) since 1989. From 1981 to 1983 he worked in the Codification Committee of the Ministry of Justice. Between 1973 and 1985 as a permanent member and lecturer he also contributed to the work of the Civil Law Panel working within the University of Pécs. As of 1981 he has been permanent adjudicator at the Committee on Specialist Examinations for Law. He has been teaching at the Faculty of Law of Janus Pannonius University of Pécs since 1989. Holding titular senior professorship, he is also directing the teaching of Immovable Property Law, established as a separate course, at the Institute for Private Law of Pázmány Péter Catholic University.
