He graduated in 1976 at the Faculty of Law of Eötvös Loránd University.

After graduation he started to work at the Central District Court of Pest and as a judge he primarily dealt with cases of classic property law, including right in rem, inheritance and contractual debates. In 1983-1984 he was the acting vice-president of the Budapest 18th and 19th District Court.

In 1989 he started to practice as an attorney-at-law, primarily representing companies.

From November 2010 to April 2020 he was the president of the Hungarian Competition Authority.
