Ákos KOZMA

Born year: 1972

Member of the Constitutional Court since 26 September 2025.

He graduated in 1995 from the Faculty of Law and Political Sciences of Eötvös Loránd University, where he also pursued studies in political science. He passed the bar examination in 1997.

Throughout his professional career, he has held numerous significant public law offices. In 2010 and again in 2016, the National Assembly elected him as a member of the Independent Police Complaints Board, of which he served as Vice-Chair between 2010 and 2019. From 26 September 2019 until 25 September 2025 he held the office of Commissioner for Fundamental Rights of Hungary (Ombudsman).

Since 1995 he has been a lecturer at the Department of Constitutional Law of Pázmány Péter Catholic University, where he was appointed Assistant Professor. He has also lectured at other higher education institutions on constitutional law, European Union law, and other related legal subjects.

Between 1999 and 2002 he was a member of the Ministry of Justice’s Bar Examination Board, and from 2001 to 2002 he served as lecturer and examiner on the Public Administration Examination Board. From 1999 to 2004 he held the position of Secretary of the Scientific Committee of the Hungarian Lawyers’ Association, and since 1997 he has been a member of the Budapest Bar Association.
