The first Cup of Constitutional Courts, an international futsal tournament, was organised in Budapest last week by the Constitutional Court of Hungary. The six participating teams were composed of more than twenty judges and forty colleagues of the Constitutional Courts from the neighbouring countries. The next Cup of Constitutional Courts will take place in Austria.

The first Cup of Constitutional Courts was organised in Budapest last week. The Constitutional Court of Croatia, Slovenia, Slovakia, Romania and Austria took part beside the team of the Constitutional Court of Hungary. More than twenty judges and forty colleagues composed the participating teams and played for the cup.

The Main Patron of the Cup was Péter Paczolay, President of the Constitutional Court of Hungary, who emphasized in the opening ceremony that the purposes of the tournament are not only to create a tradition but also to provide an opportunity and a meeting place for both the judges and the colleagues of the neighbouring Constitutional Courts to facilitate the relations through the sport.

Beyond President of the Constitutional Court of Hungary, Gerhart Holzinger, President of the Constitutional Court of Austria; Augustin Zegrean, President of the Constitutional Court of Romania and Miroslav Mozetič, President of the Constitutional Court of Slovenia took part in the matches. On the occasion of the tournament, the participating judges consulted informally about some current issues as well.

The winner of the first Cup of Constitutional Courts was the team of the Constitutional Court of Hungary. The team of the Constitutional Court of Austria took the second place and the team of the Constitutional Court of Slovakia took the third place.

The next Cup of Constitutional Courts will take place in Austria.
