Dr. László Sólyom (1942)

Dr. Sólyom was a Judge of the Constitutional Court from November 1989 to November 1998.

From November 1989 to July 1990 he was Vice-President, and from July 1990 to November 1998 President of the Constitutional Court.

 He graduated from the Faculty of Law of the University of Pécs in 1965. He was assistant professor at the Faculty of Law of Friedrich-Schiller University in Jena, Germany, from 1966 to 1969. From 1969 on he worked as a researcher at the Institute of Legal Sciences of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, and as a librarian in the library of Parliament. He received an academic doctoral degree in Law in 1980. He has been full professor at the Civil Law Department of ELTE University in Budapest since 1982. His main fields of interest are Torts and the protection of the rights of persons.
